Adventure is truly right outside your door. Cross Nemo Road to hike to the fascinating Creek Caves or explore the stone maze at Steamboat Rock. Spend your days riding trails, hiking, biking, or visiting the historic towns of Deadwood, Keystone, and Hill City. Then come home to relax under the stars and soak in the peace of the mountains.

This place was even more beautiful than the descriptions!!! The beds were comfy, the upstairs carpet shockingly plush, the balconies beautiful, the kitchen well stocked, the bathrooms perfectly clean, and the living rooms so comfy and livable! The views were out of this world and we loved listening to the wind blowing through the tops of the pine trees! We've been to this area dozens of times and always stay in the Badlands. We choose this as something different and are so unbelievably happy with our choice!!!
A Perfect Black Hills Home Base for the Whole Family
Boxelder Bluff was the ideal home base for our five-day Black Hills vacation. We used it as our launching point for Mount Rushmore, the Badlands, Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Memorial, Deadwood, and Spearfish Canyon, and the location made every day trip easy.
The house comfortably fit our whole group, and after long days of sightseeing, it was exactly the kind of place you want to come back to. The deck was the highlight of our evenings — the stargazing is incredible out there, and one night we were even lucky enough to catch the Northern Lights. That alone made the stay unforgettable.
The home was clean, well-stocked, and everything worked as described. Communication with the host was smooth from booking through checkout.
If you’re planning a Black Hills or Mount Rushmore trip and want a comfortable place that works for a whole family, Boxelder Bluff is an easy recommendation. We’d happily stay again.
We had such a great time staying here! The location is perfect — close to everything but still quiet and chill. It was really easy to get around and find good spots to eat, shop, and explore.
The house was super clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen was fully stocked, the Wi-Fi was fast, and there were plenty of fresh towels and comfy blankets. It’s clear the owners put a lot of thought into making it a comfortable stay.
The beds were super cozy, the living space was perfect for hanging out, and we loved the little outdoor area too. It has three decks! It just felt really homey and relaxing.
Definitely recommend staying here if you’re looking for a clean, comfortable place in a great location. We’d 100% come back!
Boxelder Bluff was a spacious, clean house with nice furnishings. Three good-sized bedrooms, two with en-suites and one with a bathroom down the hall. Two separate living spaces. Large kitchen with pretty much everything you need. And a laundry room with full-size appliances. The house is surrounded by forest so has great views all around. You do have to drive uphill on a gravel road to get to the cabin, but it is nice being in a secluded location

“We really enjoyed our stay at Boxelder Bluff. The house was spacious, clean and well maintained. Three bedrooms, two with en-suites and one with a bathroom down the hall. Two separate living spaces and a kitchen outfitted with whatever you might need. The laundry room has a full size washer and dryer. TVs in every bedroom and living space. There is a nice wooded view from the large windows and the decks. You do have to take a gravel road from Nemo Road up the hill through the forest to reach the house. But it is a nice secluded location.”
